Welcome
The Greater U Street Jazz Collective is a Washington, DC-based jazz collective which according to jazz writer Bill Brower (Downbeat/ Washington Post) "...pays homage to the motley family of Jazz, from railroad Blues, Tin Pan Alley tunes, and Ellingtonia to the mastery of moderns like Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus and Wayne Shorter."
This collectively produced, artist-centric project seeks to use this great urban music--jazz--to motivate, inspire and stimulate constructive, productive discussion and collaborative action between diverse actors around economic fairness, cultural diversity, so-called gentrification, education, sustainability, and peace through justice.
